Addressable Toxic Flammable Gas Detection Systems in Tunnels

The new generation addressable gas detection systems are designed to measure harmful gases for parking garages and highway tunnels, to activate and deactivate the ventilation system as a result of the measurements, and to give warnings in case of exceeding the gas limit. We have solutions in accordance with EN 50545 Standards.

The system consists of a detector, a 4-20mA input module to which the detectors are connected, an output module and a main panel in order to trigger the ventilation according to the information coming from the input module. Thanks to the detectors and the main panel, it is ensured that the gas density in the environment is monitored, warnings are given accordingly and the ventilation system is activated.

The panel is an intelligent unit where each addressable gas detector can be monitored separately. Thanks to its low power consumption and internal battery, the system, which has been developed with design and analysis, is not affected by power cuts, ensuring continuous monitoring and control of toxic gases in closed areas even if there is a power outage.

Communication and supply voltage between the main panel and sensor systems are made with only two cables, allowing ease of installation and a low-cost system.

Thanks to the ventilation system connection, ventilation operation is provided by relays when necessary. This reduces the electricity consumption and extends the life of the motor and minimizes the maintenance costs of the motor. . Since the ventilation will not work continuously, it is beneficial to provide a quiet environment.

As of 2012, the EN 50545 standard for measuring toxic gases (carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, nitrogen dioxide) in parking lots and tunnels has come into force and the gas measurement sensors to be used here have been obliged to meet these standards.

Designing the system in accordance with EN 50545-1, having a special measurement range for car parks and tunnels, ensures that the system is beneficial to the environment and people, and supports the increase of efficiency by regulating existing systems by ensuring the use of the right product in the right place.

Considering that the carbon monoxide level accepted for human health is between 15.000 ppm - 30.000 ppm during the routine operations of vehicles with a carbon monoxide level of 60 ppm, the co level of the smoke emitted from the exhausts is in the range of 15.000 ppm - 30.000 ppm. Establishment of ventilation systems and evacuation of harmful gases have become an inevitable necessity.
